ACC Championship odds: FanDuel releases line on potential Miami vs. SMU matchup
A spot in the ACC Championship is on the line this week. SMU already clinched and is awaiting its opponent, and FanDuel has released the betting line on a potential matchup with Miami.
The Hurricanes would be 3.5-point favorites over the Mustangs in the title game, according to FanDuel’s hypothetical odds. The over-under would also be 63.5.
SMU secured its spot in the ACC Championship last week with its victory over Virginia. It’s the latest chapter in the Mustangs’ banner first year in the league, taking an undefeated record in conference play into Saturday’s season finale against Cal and coming in as the No. 9-ranked team in the latest College Football Playoff rankings.
Rhett Lashlee’s group is currently awaiting its opponent. Miami can clinch a spot with a win over Syracuse, but a loss would mean Clemson heads to Charlotte next week to take on SMU.

Miami possesses one of the top offenses in the country this year, led by Heisman Trophy contender Cam Ward. The Washington State transfer leads the nation with 34 passing touchdowns and currently ranks second in FBS with 343.1 passing yards per game, as well. He’s fit in to Shannon Dawson’s scheme well and is continuing to improve his NFL Draft stock.
As the Hurricanes get ready for Week 14, Mario Cristobal said the coaching staff isn’t talking about hypotheticals. They’re trying to get ready for the task at hand and rather than any potential ACC Championship berth, talk about getting the job done to get there.
“I would say that just the posturing of our words are very different,” Cristobal said. “We don’t talk much in ifs. You know what I mean? We address more in absolutes, like, ‘This is what we’re going to do. This is how we’re going to do it. This is how we’re going to approach it.’ Like hypotheticals and maybes and probably they’re just, are just not part of dialect when we’re approaching a contest.”
