Adam Hadwin launches club into bushes at U.S. Open, has to go look for it
Adam Hadwin continues to make headlines on the golf course … just probably not in the way he’d like. The Canadian golf star hasn’t really done anything egregious, but his recent actions have provided social media with plenty of laughter.
Last week, it was getting tackled by security while trying to rush the 18th green to celebrate Nick Taylor’s victory. On Friday, Hadwin got a little animated after a poor shot, tossing a club into the bushes at the U.S. Open.
That, alone, would get plenty of attention. We all love to see golfers struggle on the course like the rest of us, right? But what made Hadwin’s moment even funnier was his trek to find the club.
Andy Johnson of The Fried Egg posted the video of Hadwin’s journey to locate his club:
At least he wasn’t searching for a ball in that mess, right?
After another one of Hadwin’s moments went viral, the golfer decided to make a comment on the situation. He responded to Johnson’s tweet, explaining why he chased down the club.
“I didn’t have to (retrieve the club),” Hadwin wrote on Twitter. “But being the good Canadian kid I am, I didn’t think it was fair to send my caddie.”
Hadwin’s wife, Jessica, agreed.
“Oh my,” Jessica wrote on Twitter after seeing the video. “At least he didn’t have his caddie go get it lol.”
Hadwin might’ve been frustrated with the shot, but he played well enough to make the cut at the U.S. Open. He finished the first two rounds right at the cut line, shooting +2 to squeak into the weekend.

Adam Hadwin gets tackled at Canadian Open
Hadwin’s golf-club-throwing incident comes just a few days after he went viral on social media at the Canadian Open. In an attempt to celebrate Taylor’s victory, he took quite a hit from PGA Tour security.
Taylor sunk a long eagle putt in a playoff to defeat Tommy Fleetwood to win the event. After the tournament finally ended, Hadwin attempted to rush the green and spray his friend with champagne.
Security wasn’t having it.
Hadwin got leveled, and multiple fans captured different angles of the incident. Fortunately, the golfer didn’t sustain any injuries after the hit. He probably didn’t feel great the next morning, though.
“Sorry to leave y’all hanging, had to get the toddler ready for bed,” Hadwin’s wife wrote on Twitter. “I’m thrilled to report that (Adam) is still among the land of the living and in true Canadian form, apologized to the security guard for being tackled.”
Before the start of the U.S. Open, the USGA left Hadwin a welcome present — leaving him with a hard hat and construction vest in case he wanted to rush another green.
Maybe he could’ve used those items while searching for his club, too.
