Adam Hadwin's wife shares hilarious update on his condition after being tackled by security
PGA Tour golfer Adam Hadwin got laid out by security following Sunday’s RBC Canadian Open … and will live to tell the tale. At least that’s the update his wife, Jessica, provided later in the evening.
Hadwin got tackled on the 18th green after he attempted to celebrate with his friend, Nick Taylor, who claimed the win at the Canadian Open. Security had no idea who Hadwin was, jumping into action immediately.
“Sorry to leave y’all hanging, had to get the toddler ready for bed,” Jessica wrote on Twitter. “I’m thrilled to report that (Adam) is still among the land of the living and in true Canadian form, apologized to the security guard for being tackled.”
Taylor sunk a long putt for eagle on a fourth playoff hole to defeat Tommy Fleetwood for the win. He became the first Canadian since 1954 to take home the top prize from the Canadian Open.
Taylor ended the tournament with a -17. Hadwin enjoyed a solid tournament, as well. He carded a -11 for the four-round event, finishing in a tie for 12th. Something tells us that won’t be the thing Hadwin remembers most about his appearance at the 2023 Canadian Open, though.

Taylor made one of the most ridiculous putts to win a tournament you’ll ever see. The crowd erupted, rightfully so for the Candian victor. And while that’s still the headline from this weekend’s tournament, Hadwin was a close second.

Hadwin rushed the green in an attempt to celebrate the major accomplishment with his friend. That didn’t go over too well. Security was quick to act, tackling Hadwin to the ground.
Before hitting the turf, Hadwin tried to spray champagne all over Taylor after sinking the putt.
While folks might be critical of security, let’s cut them some slack. They’ve got to act quickly and don’t have much time to decipher between PGA Tour professionals and crazed fans. Better safe than sorry.
And, as Hadwin’s wife pointed out, he was the one to issue an apology. So, he knows he probably crossed a few lines. But it’s understandable, to see your friend and fellow Canadian win in such impressive fashion? You want to start the celebration as soon as possible.
We’ll go ahead and guess that Hadwin will be a little more cautious the next time he tries to rush a green to celebrate. Or, maybe he’ll just stand outside the ropes and wait for his friends to visit him.
