Adam Sandler reveals Travis Kelce will have role in new 'Happy Gilmore' movie
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has already mastered the gridiron, and it appears he’s looking to take on a new challenge on the big screen.
Nearly three decades after its original release, “Happy Gilmore 2” is in the works, and Kelce will be a part of it, Adam Sandler revealed on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” Tuesday.
“Travis, he mentioned it and so we have a nice something for Travis,” Sandler said. “He’s going to come by and he’s a very nice guy. You guys would love him in real life. What a big, handsome guy and funny, cool as hell. He’s a stud and he’s so funny.”
Kelce said on his “New Heights” podcast in May that he would like to be in “Happy Gilmore 2” in some capacity.
“I didn’t even know there was a job opening for ‘Happy Gilmore 2,’ but if there is I’ll be a fu*king extra,” Kelce said. “Anything I can do to get around Happy Gilmore or an Adam Sandler film or set, count me in. Obviously been a huge fan of ‘the Sandman,’ but yes. This is exactly what it says it is: a conspiracy theory. “Who knows? Theories can come true. Theories can be true and just people don’t know about it. So, I might even be in the talking [for the film] and nobody knows about it. But I could also not be in the talking so.”
Travis Kelce taking on acting as NFL career continues
Kelce, 34, has dabbled in the entertainment realm, notably appearing in an episode of Showtime‘s comedy “Moonbase 8” in 2020. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Kelce is in talks to star in “Loose Cannons,” an action-comedy film produced by “John Wick” director Chad Stahelski.

Christopher McDonald, who played the iconic Shooter McGavin character in the original film, revealed in March that Sandler had a script for the sequel. Netflix confirmed in May that it had ordered the sequel to be released in the near future.
Sandler told Fallon that several professional golfers are working on being involved in the upcoming film.
“We’re continuing to try to make it a movie that you guys will like. And I think we’re excited,” Sandler said. “So many of the golfers are being nice, and they’re going to be a part of it and all.”
To this day, “Happy Gilmore” holds up as one of the most iconic sports movies of all-time. With a budget of just $12 million, the film grossed $41.2 million at the box office worldwide. A whopping $38.8 million of that figure came from box office sales in North America.
