Adam Schefter explains why Deion Sanders, Shedeur to the Dallas Cowboys isn't out of the question
Could Deion Sanders and Shedeur Sanders be a package deal for next year in the NFL? With the Dallas Cowboys no less? Adam Schefter doesn’t see why not.
Schefter spoke on the possibility of the Sanders’ coming to the Cowboys during a discussion on “Get Up” on Thursday. With several people wondering about the chance of it, he couldn’t think of a reason how it couldn’t happen.
“Okay, so, we’ve got Paul Finebaum saying that Deion Sanders belongs with the Dallas Cowboys in the NFL. We’ve got Dan (Orlovsky) saying that Deion doesn’t trust his sons to go to certain places. So, if Paul is saying that Deion is going to be in the NFL and you’re saying that he wants to control his son… Well, what better combination would there be if Deion were to be with his son in the same place?” Schefter asked.
This comes later in the week after Sanders said he would have his say, at least privately though, of where his son would be selected in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Each of the Sanders has improved their own stock this season at Colorado. Shedeur Sanders is projected as the top quarterback in the draft, if not the eventual top overall selection, as he’s completed 72.9% of his throws for 2,882 yards, 24 touchdowns, and six interceptions in his second season in Boulder. Meanwhile, Deion Sanders is doing some of his best coaching work with the Buffaloes at 7-2 overall this year with a chance at the Big 12 Championship and, with that, the College Football Playoff.

Colorado HC addresses rumors of offseason move
However, Schefter’s exercise affects more franchises than just Dallas. He thinks every team that has the ability to take Sanders in the draft and also hire Sanders as their head coach could consider it as an option to some extent.
“You can now take this and apply it to any team that has a top pick in the draft, that has a need for a quarterback, and a coaching question. Any team. Go through the list and start saying to yourself, ‘Would this team hire Deion Sanders to match with Shedeur Sanders as his head coach?'” Schefter said. “Again, it’s logical to think in those regards.”
Coach Prime could very well be staying at the collegiate level for all that anyone knows. That said, if he were to ever coach in the pros, Schefter can’t imagine a scenario he would want more than this one alongside one of his kids.
“If Deion Sanders is ever going to make the jump, wouldn’t he want to do it with his son? If his son got to play with his dad, wouldn’t it make it easier to go to any place that he was drafted?” thought Schefter.
