Adam Schefter feeling 'more and more' that Shedeur Sanders slides from top-three

The 2025 NFL Draft will begin three weeks from today. The closer we get to it, though, the more likely it’s becoming that Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders won’t be one of the first picks off the board.
Adam Schefter reported the latest on the first three picks of this draft on ‘Get Up’ on Thursday morning. With the Tennessee Titans seemingly staying at No. 1 to take Miami QB Cam Ward, the Cleveland Browns at No. 2 and the New York Giants at No. 3 have questions to ask and answer about Sanders. Still, Schefter believes both will go in different directions at those spots.
“Which would then take us to the number two pick and the Cleveland Browns. There, early on, was a lot of conversations, speculation about whether or not they would take Shedeur Sanders. It feels like it’s moving off there,” Schefter said. “It feels like ownership has even spent a lot of time with Abdul Carter. It feels like, more and more, Abdul Carter could be paired opposite Myles Garrett to give the Browns the most feared pass-rushing tandem in the National Football League.
“If the Browns in fact do go with Abdul Carter, that would leave the Giants sitting there, staring at the same quarterback decision that the Browns had, that they bypassed – to take Shedeur Sanders. And there’s more and more of a feeling like the Giants might not go quarterback. If they don’t go quarterback, that would leave the other star player from this draft, Travis Hunter, to give New York a little star power that it lost when Saquon Barkley signed with the Philadelphia Eagles.”

The sense from the last few weeks is that Sanders is sliding in this draft class. That’s both overall and at the quarterback position with some of the recent discussions around Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart. That could see Sanders slide not just from the top three but further down in that first round on April 24th.
Still, much can change for all of these prospects over the next 21 days, including for Sanders with his pro day with the Buffaloes being tomorrow. However, as of this day, Schefter doesn’t expect to see him go in that top-three with the potential for a slip from there as the first round goes on.
“If we’re sitting here three weeks from today, when will be in Green Bay for the draft on ESPN and ABC? It feels more and more like Cam Ward one, Abdul Carter two, maybe Travis Hunter three,” stated Schefter. “But, again, three weeks to go and a lot can change in those weeks.”
