Adam Schefter hints at the possibility of teams trading up to No. 1 in 2025 NFL Draft for Cam Ward

There’s been a lot of movement on the quarterback market during the past two weeks of free agency. That now will have an effect on what teams decide to do in the 2025 NFL Draft, including potential trades up to No. 1 overall, according to Adam Schefter.
Schefter broke down the scenarios, specifically involving the Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, and New York Giants from No. 1 through No. 3, on ‘Get Up’ on Thursday. With the Giants signing Russell Wilson on Tuesday, that leaves Cleveland and New York with multiple veterans and decisions to make on if they want to draft or trade up for a rookie in this draft class.
“Well, I think that (Cleveland) would have been interested in Russell Wilson. I think, to start with the Giants here. The Giants signed Russell Wilson. He’s expected to be their starter. The Browns have DeShaun Watson and Kenny Pickett on their roster,” explained Schefter. “We’ll see if (the Browns) decide to go quarterback at two. I think they’ll be interested in moving up to No. 1 but I don’t know if they’re going to be able to get up to No. 1. So, that leaves a question with the Cleveland Browns at No. 2 in this upcoming draft.”
“Basically, (the Browns) have got to come up with another way to do this. And so there are questions at two with Cleveland, at three with the New York Giants and they’re all tied to No. 1,” Schefter continued. “We see the Giants make the move for Russell Wilson. The Browns had some interest in making that move. They have Deshaun Watson under contract. They’re financially obligated to him. They obviously traded for Kenny Pickett. They’ll still add another veteran but the question is whether they can get up to No. 1 and that’s really the whole issue with No. 2 and No. 3.”

Cleveland and New York have several options now at quarterback between Watson and Pickett for the Browns and Wilson, Jameis Winston, and Tommy DeVito for the Giants. That has confused some of their plans for this draft with less opportunity for a prospect within those franchises, namely Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders.
Because of that, the Tennessee Titans have all the focus on them now at No. 1 still. The next four weeks to Schefter are now about where they stay in that spot and make that pick or if another team, whether the Browns, Giants, or otherwise, put together enough of deal for them to trade it away
“Are the Titans going to stick at No. 1 and draft Cam Ward, a quarterback they were really impressed with? Or is there going to be a team that comes up with an offer that is too good for Tennessee to turn down?” Schefter asked. “That’s what this is all about in the next month – whether the Browns, the Giants, the Saints, some team out there can entice the Titans enough to move off No. 1 and there’s a way for another team to go get Cam Ward? Right now, Tennessee is planning to stay there and make the pick but we’ll see if there’s a team that can offer enough to change the Titans’ minds.”
