Adam Schefter makes definitive statement on Cam Ward, No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft

The order to start the 2025 NFL Draft has become clearer as we’re now a week away from the clock starting in Green Bay. That includes at No. 1 overall, where, with Tennessee being up once that clock begins, there’s been another definite take on who the Titans will be taking.
‘Get Up’ took a look at the start of this draft again earlier this morning with it being a week out. With that, ESPN’s Adam Schefter was the latest analyst or expert to state that Miami QB Cam Ward would, unless another team makes a big, unexpected deal for the selection in the next seven days, be that No. 1 pick for the Tennessee Titans.
“Well, Greeny, those chimes are music to everybody’s ears and the Titans are on the clock and the pick is expected to be Cam Ward, barring some last-minute, unforeseen offer rolling into Tennessee,” Schefter said. “The Titans are looking for their quarterback of the future. They believe Cam Ward is their quarterback of the future and they look like they may be building around, their program around that quarterback.”
Again, this has become a working theory for most analyzing the draft coming out of last month and into April. Todd McShay was the most recent to make a similar statement about Ward going at No. 1. ESPN, CBS Sports, and PFF also have consensus with that first overall pick in each of their most recent mocks. Frankly, at this point, Cam Ward even thinks that he is going to be a Titan.

Ward is coming off his best collegiate season after transferring in the portal to the Hurricanes. He went on to throw for 4,313 yards, averaging to 331.8 yards per game and 9.5 yards per attempt, for 39 touchdowns and seven interceptions on 67.2% completion, which were all among the best passing stats in the country as he went on to be an All-American and a finalist for the Heisman Trophy. Now, in a week’s time, he’ll, in all likelihood, go on to be a No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft as the top quarterback evaluated in this class.
There’s still time for a surprise between right now and once the draft starts next week on Thursday. No one is expecting it, though, with Ward being more and more likely to hear his name come off the board first to the Tennessee Titans.
