Adam Schefter ponders if Dallas Cowboys should be sellers, trade Micah Parsons at deadline
ESPN’s Adam Schefter is at the point where maybe the Dallas Cowboys should be sellers and dangle Micah Parsons at the deadline.
While the NFL insider doesn’t believe the Cowboys would trade their star defender, this team is not one or two moves away from contending. After losing to the Atlanta Falcons Sunday, Dallas fell to 3-5 on the year.
Not only that, Dak Prescott left the game with a hamstring injury.
“The magic solution is not walking through that door Greeny,” Schefter said on Get Up. “No matter who they trade for, they’re not making a deal big enough to get a trade done that’s going to save their season. The die is cast on what this team is right now, they’re not going to go out and trade like I’ve had other teams wondering a lot. Well, maybe we should call the Dallas Cowboys to see if they would trade some of their players. Maybe we should check to see if they would be willing to move on from Micah Parsons, which I don’t think they would be, but those are the conversations that are going on. More than ‘who is Dallas going to land at the deadline. That’s going to help that run defense, that’s going to help that run game, that’s going to turn around this season, that’s going to get Dak’s hamstring healthy again, that’s going to get CeeDee Lamb’s shoulder healthy again.
“This team has got so many issues that one trade, two trades, three trades, which aren’t going to happen, aren’t going to fix this roster by the 4pm eastern trade deadline.”
Frustrations boiled over for the Cowboys during Sunday’s defeat. Prescott appeared to utter “We f****** suck” on the sideline late in the game.

However, while not all of the blame can be placed on the quarterback, Prescott has been just as much a part of Dallas’ struggles as anyone else. He signed a four-year extension worth $240 million this offseason but so far hasn’t been playing up to that number.
Prescott entered Sunday’s game ranked ninth in the NFL in passing yards but had only 10 touchdowns compared to eight interceptions. He is also completing just 63.7% of his passes to rank 21st in the league.
The Cowboys have long been mocked for their postseason struggles but had at least remained competitive during the regular season over the past few years. However, it’s clear now that players are beginning to grow restless and something has to change.
Owner and general manager Jerry Jones said postgame that Dallas should be in the mix to make a trade over the next two days before the trade deadline on Tuesday. The Cowboys will hope to snap their three-game losing streak next week when they take on the Eagles at home.
