As owners of the No. 1 overall pick in next month’s 2025 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans can expect to field plenty of calls from desperate teams looking to land their next franchise quarterback. But based on everything ESPN insider Adam Schefter is hearing at the moment, they could all be for naught if they take Cam Ward.

Schefter expects the Titans will listen to all offers for the top pick, but all signs point to Tennessee hanging onto the coveted spot and taking the player those teams would likely be clamoring for: Miami quarterback Cam Ward.

“Tennessee, I’m sure, is going to listen to aggressive offers from teams trying to get up to No. 1, but right now if we follow the breadcrumbs, they point to Tennessee holding that pick and taking the quarterback Cam Ward from Miami,” Schefter said Tuesday afternoon on ESPN’s SportsCenter Special: Mel Kiper Jr.’s Mock Draft 3.0. “Looking at what they did in free agency, the only quarterback they signed was Brandon Allen, not very experienced and not very productive at the NFL level.

“Look at the offensive linemen they signed, they signed left tackle Dan Moore that will allow them to move last year’s first round draft pick JC Latham over to right tackle, and they also added the veteran guard Kevin Zeitler — two big offensive line additions that necessitate three changes on the offensive line building up to take a quarterback. That’s certainly what it seems like, and Cam Ward, right now, is tracking to be the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.”

In his first season in Coral Gables, Ward led the Hurricanes’ top-ranked offense with a FBS-best 39 passing touchdowns and ranked in the Top 5 in nearly every passing metric. He was second nationally with 4,313 yards on 67.2-percent passing in 2024.

Louis Riddick: Shedeur Sanders over Cam Ward would be ‘shocking’ in NFL Draft

ESPN’s Louis Riddick would be “shocked” if Shedeur Sanders passes Cam Ward as the top quarterback in this year’s NFL Draft.

The two are considered the top two signal callers in this draft class, but Ward’s been projected as the top QB and even the No. 1 overall pick. Currently, the Tennessee Titans hold the top selection with whispers the New York Giants or Cleveland Browns could trade up to get their guy.

Ward is likely gone first, which means Sanders would remain on the board, at least after the No. 1 pick. Anything else happening would be quite stunning, as Riddick put it.

“It would be shocking and look I love Shedeur, love his father, love everything that they accomplished at both Jackson and in Colorado,” Riddick said on Get Up. “But I will tell you this. Look, I just think Cam Ward is uniquely qualified to be a franchise quarterback, both in terms of his mental makeup, his story, what he has been through, the resilience that he has shown.

“And then let’s just get to the football part. You want to talk about a guy who has a lot of mental horsepower, who has the quickest release in college football, who can see the entire field and touch the entire field as well or better than any quarterback in this draft. And (he is someone) who did it at a consistently high level, as measured by every metric, whether it be in the pocket, outside the pocket, against pressure, clean pocket. He aced them all this year. This is his time.”

Ward had the best season of his career in Miami while Sanders also progressively got better at Colorado. Both QBs set career highs in passing in 2024.
