The network known for nitpicking every move the Dallas Cowboys make has been singing a different tune this week after the team’s second decisive victory of the season. ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter went so far as to say that this is the best Cowboys team “in a long time” while on the network’s new midday show with Pat McAfee on Monday.

“The Jets were talking about comparing themselves to the ’85 Bears before the season and now the Cowboys have a defense that’s giving up, what? 10 points a game, sacks, interceptions,” Schefter said. “They feel like this is as good a team as they’ve had in a long time.

“Remember what Jerry said? ‘This is the best team I’ve had since I’ve been here.’ Everybody’s like, ‘Yeah, ok, Jerry, let’s see it.’ Well, so far, so good, they’ve looked pretty impressive… If you can play defense like that and you’re not going to turn over the offense, they’re going to be a tough out, a tough team to beat. The NFC with the Cowboys, 49ers and Eagles, oh boy, those are three great teams.”

Cowboys dominating through two weeks

The Cowboys left AT&T Stadium with a 30-10 win over the Jets on Sunday after shutting out the Giants 40-0 in Week 1.

“When you’re playing balanced football from offense to defense to special teams, it’s extremely fun,” Micah Parsons said after his two-sack performance. “We’re having so much fun with this group. It’s a special group, and I don’t think people know just how special it is yet.”

As if the final scores haven’t been enough of a message to the league, Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb laid it out plain and simple on Sunday.

“We’re here to dominate,” Lamb said. “We’re not here to play around. We understand what’s at stake, week in and week out, and we’re constantly preparing ourselves to be the best team that we can be — offense, defense and special teams. Every week that we come out here, we wanna be better than last week.”

Despite two dominant performances, there are still things the Cowboys can improve on, especially on offense, as Lamb pointed out.

“On the offensive side of the ball, we know we’ve gotta get in the end zone more and not necessarily end up with three,” Lamb said. “We love the points, but we need to capitalize for seven.”

The Cowboys get back after it on Sunday afternoon with a road game against the Arizona Cardinals.
