Adam Thielen has seen his fair share of successful wide receivers while playing alongside the likes of Stefon Diggs and Justin Jefferson in Minnesota. Now, as a member of the Carolina Panthers, he is seeing similar flashes from third-year WR Terrace Marshall.

Thielen commented Marshall’s habits and mindset in a media availability from last week. He described him as ‘motived’ and says that he does everything to make himself a better player, teammate, and person on a daily basis.

“He’s a guy who comes to work every single day. He’s doing the little things, he’s doing the extra stuff,” Thielen said. “He really is motivated to be the best football player that he can possibly be. And, really, the best teammate that he can possibly be.”

“He has welcomed me in from day one, even before I got here, and has been a great teammate. So I appreciate that and thank him for that,” said Thielen. “And you can tell that he’s a mature football player and has a bright future.”

Marshall has seen action in 27 games over his pair of seasons in Charlotte. In those appearances, including 12 starts with nine coming in 2022, he has caught 45 passes on 75 targets for 628 receiving yards and a touchdown.

That comes after he was a Top-15 recruit and No. 2 WR in the 2018 class per On3’s Industry Rankings. From there, he went on to catch 106 passes for 1,594 yards and 23 touchdowns for LSU as part of their program in a stretch where they won a national championship. Then, after his collegiate career, Carolina brought him in with the 59th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Marshall and Thielen will both be key targets for rookie QB Bryce Young in his rookie season. Even so, the former Viking believes that even more could be in Marshall’s future if he continues to work and conduct himself as he does.

Bryce Young has been ‘as advertised’ for the Carolina Panthers

Expectations are nothing new to Bryce Young. He’s been a top quarterback recruit and Heisman Trophy winner. He also added to that resume as the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft. That’s why it’s no surprise that the former Alabama QB is living up to his billing with the Carolina Panthers.

In an article at ESPN, NFL Nation reporters updated the latest on every first round pick of the 2023 NFL Draft. In Young’s case, David Newton described him as having ‘been as advertised’ with no further evidence necessary than his movement to Carolina’s QB1 spot.

“Young has been as advertised, living up to all the expectations the Panthers had when they selected him No. 1,” said Newton. “From his ability to process information, to making all the throws, to earning the respect of his teammates? He’s on a clear path to be the Week 1 starter.”

“He already has been elevated to QB1 over Andy Dalton. (It’s) a clear sign the staff and teammates have confidence in him,” Newton wrote.
