The 2024 NFL Combine is in full swing this weekend in Indianapolis, Indiana. And the future stars of the NFL are showcasing their speed in the 40-yard dash, among other events. Former Texas star Adonai Mitchell posted a blazing time, finishing with a 4.35 on his first run. Once he ran that fast, NFL Network decided to simulcast his 40-yard dash with Julio Jones and AJ Brown overlayed on it.

His 40-yard dash time put him in elite company for a player of his size. According to Warren Sharp, there have only been two wide receivers at the NFL Combine that have run a 4.35 or less in the 40-yard dash, measure at least 6-feet-2 inches, and weigh at least 205 pounds. Who was the other receiver you might ask? That would be D.K. Metcalf of the Seattle Seahawks, one of the biggest freaks in the National Football League.

His forty time ranked him third among the wideouts in the 2024 NFL Combine. He also tested well in the vertical leap (39.5 inches) and the broad jump (11 feet, 4 inches). Mitchell likely secured himself a spot in the first round with those type of numbers. He’s quite the physical specimen, but he’s also made a number of clutch catches over the years in big-time moments.

Mitchell was one of the most clutch receivers in college football the past few years, coming up in the biggest of moments both during his time as a Georgia Bulldog and as a Texas Longhorn. This past season for Texas, he hauled in 55 catches for 845 yards and 11 touchdowns. Mitchell hauled in three catches, including two touchdowns in the fourth quarter in the ‘Horns 34-24 win over Alabama. He had a penchant for dominating in the red zone and that was no different when he was with the Georgia Bulldogs.
