Agent for Bengals RB Joe Mixon releases statement after police decline to file charges
Joe Mixon has found himself amidst an offseason controversy stemming from a shooting in his neighborhood of Anderson Township. However, the latest update in the investigation comes as a sigh of relief for the Cincinnati Bengal’s running back. That’s because the Hamilton County Prosecutor has chosen to not to file charges against the 26 year old.
Now, Peter Schaffer, Mixon’s agent, released a statement on this news regarding his client. Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network then shared it via Twitter. Within the statement are additional facts that their side now wanted to provide with the investigation and issue resolved.
Earlier this month, local police entered Mixon’s home following a ‘shots fired’ call that someone in the neighborhood placed. As a result of this incident, medical personnel took a juvenile to the hospital with minor injuries. Law enforcement then provided additional details and said that Mixon’s house was ‘part of the crime scene’.
Schaffer’s words go on to add some new clarity to the matter from their side’s point of view. Within the statement, he says Mixon and his physical therapist were the ones who placed the 911 calls following suspicious activity on his street. Mixon then went outside to further investigate but that, in Schaffer’s words, he ‘had no intention to confront anyone, nor did he’.

After someone discharged a firearm, Mixon ‘interceded’ to stop the shooter. However, it turns out the entire situation was part of a game being played by a group of young adults, although Schaffer and Mixon expressed their regret that someone was actually hurt as part of the actions that took place that night.
This is not the first time Mixon has allegedly been part of something over his offseason that involved the police. Even so, it seems he is in the clear for this one following the latest details shared from this specific incident.
