Aidan Hutchinson injury update: Latest on Lions star's gruesome leg injury
Following a gruesome injury to Detroit Lions star pass-rusher Aidan Hutchinson, head coach Dan Campbell provided an update on his status.
Hutchinson exited a game against the Dallas Cowboys in the third quarter after his leg was rolled up on by another player and seemingly buckled under the weight of the impact.
He was carted off the field, left leg in an air cast, and players from both teams came over to show him some love before he departed. According to the Lions, Hutchinson suffered a broken tibia and underwent immediate surgery at a Dallas-area hospital.
“He’s in good hands right now. He’s being taken care of,” Campbell said. “He’ll stay back here, and obviously he’s going to be down for a little while. So that’s tough, man. It’s hard when you lose someone like him. But we’ll know a lot more after this and obviously wish him the best.”
Hutchinson will remain in Dallas so that doctors can evaluate his lower leg injury.
Prior to his exit, Aidan Hutchinson had three tackles, a tackle for a loss and a sack, to go along with three quarterback hits against the Cowboys.
Hutchinson, the Lions’ top defensive player, is in his third season in the NFL. Over his five games this season, he has totaled 19 tackles, 7.5 sacks and a forced fumble. He leads Detroit in sacks.
He has been a highly productive player since his selection in the 2022 NFL Draft. That’s exactly what Detroit expected when it drafted him with the No. 2 overall pick.
