Philadelphia Eagles (2-0) receiver AJ Brown and quarterback Jalen Hurts had an animated sideline conversation during the 34-28 Week 2 victory over the Minnesota Vikings (0-2) last Thursday.

Head coach Nick Sirianni interjected to prevent any further escalation, and Brown himself downplayed the incident when asked about it Thursday.

“The sideline discussion, I want you all to know that’s what it was, a discussion,” Brown said, via Martin Frank of the Delaware News Journal. “It’s a game that we both love and I want everybody to understand that sometimes emotions are high and that’s kind of what happened. That doesn’t mean it’s the end of the world. That doesn’t mean I’m beefing with Jalen.

Cameras captured the sideline exchange during the fourth quarter with the Eagles in control of the Vikings. At the time, Brown had hardly been targeted in the game. On the ensuing possession after the conversation, Hurts threw three passes Brown’s way.

Brown insisted his lack of targets had nothing to do with the conversation between he and Hurts, but rather something that happened earlier in the game.

“It was not about targets,” Brown said. “I’m sure everybody thought that because he threw me the ball three times in a row afterwards. But no, I was not over there discussing targets. It was about something that happened earlier and we were having a discussion about it.”

Brown finished the game with four receptions for 29 yards, and left Lincoln Financial Field without speaking to the media. Like Brown, Hurts said the situation was blown out of proportion.

“Y’all talked about it and made it a big deal when it wasn’t,” Hurts said. “That’s always going to be my guy. We’re all great competitors and we all want to help the team win. Nothing’s going to change with that and he’s going to continue to put his best foot forward to help the team.”

He added: “I think everybody wants to make plays and everybody wants to contribute. I have no worry about him. He’s a great player, a great teammate, a great friend, and we’ll do anything and everything to win.”
