The NFL season is only a few weeks away and fans can taste the football in the air as training camps across the league are in full swing. Vikings defensive back AJ Green III turned some heads on Wednesday night, after he made a beautiful one-handed snag on an interception.

He was going up against Trishton Jackson in a one-on-one drill. It’ll certainly go down as one of the more impressive plays of fall camp thus far. It was an impressive jam at the line for Green, but the one-handed snag definitely caught the attention of plenty of people across social media on Wednesday. The ball was thrown by rookie quarterback, JJ McCarthy.

More on the football career of AJ Green III

The Vikings signed Green to a reserve/future contract on January 23, 2024. He originally went undrafted in the 2020 NFL Draft, before bouncing onto a number of different NFL rosters. The Cleveland Browns signed him as an undrafted free agent in May of 2020. In week 17 of the 2021 campaign, Green hauled in his first interception as a pro against the Pittsburgh Steelers. For his total NFL career thus far, he’s tallied 40 tackles, two fumble recoveries, seven pass deflections, and two interceptions.

During his college days with Oklahoma State, Green shined. He started every game from 2017 to 2019 (39 games total), playing in a total of 48 games during his time there. He finished his college career with 147 total tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, six interceptions, 27 passes defended, and two forced fumbles.

As one of the best defensive backs in the country, he was named a Jim Thorpe Award Semifinalist in 2019. He also brought home second team All-Big 12 honors from the Associated Press in 2019. In 2018, he won second team All-Big 12 honors.

In high school, Green played for DeSoto (DeSoto, Texas), earning first team all-district honors as a sophomore and senior. He was also named one of his team MVPs his senior year, earning honorable mention all-state honors in the process. A dynamic athlete, he also starred for the high school basketball team.

The Vikings still have plenty of games left in the preseason. They’ll face the Las Vegas Raiders on Saturday, August 10th. Then they’ll face the Browns on August 17th and the Eagles on August 24th.
