Following the finish to the ARCA race at Daytona, Helio Castroneves found himself once again being wrecked on the track. AJ Moyer appeared to not slow down after the finish and got into the back of Castroneves, sending him up into the outside wall.

Helio Castroneves also collided with another vehicle as a result of the incident. During the race, the four-time Indy 500 winner was involved in multiple incidents. Yet, he was able to push his teammate Brenden “Butterbean” Queen to the win and leave with a P5 finish.

Having made it through all of those other incidents during the race, it is a shame that Castroneves was wrecked after the checkered flag. That is not a time when anyone is expecting to have a car in their rear bumper.

A fan, Colin Welty, captured the incident going into Turn 1. Moyer just runs Castroneves over.

According to AJ Moyer, he lost radio with 11 laps to go. So, the driver did not know that the race had ended. An accident but a dangerous one to have as the field begins to slow down.

As the race ended, the field began to slow down for the cool-down lap. Just as the FOX broadcast was celebrating the victory from Brenden Queen, Helio Castroneves was in the wall once again.

Speaking to Dalton Hopkins of Fronstretch, Moyer explained the situation.

“We lost radios with about 11 to go I had no spotter,” Moyer said. “So, I just kinda kept doing what he said. Got into Helio there at the end. I guess he checked up, race was over, I didn’t have any radios, and just an accident there. Didn’t mean for that to happen. But overall, it was a successful day.”

As for whether he will speak to Helio Castroneves about the incident, Moyer said that he would be open to talking.

“Oh sure, he’s a great guy. It wasn’t intentional.”

A wild afternoon, especially for Helio Castroneves. It felt like he was involved in about half of the on-track incidents that we saw in a 200-mile race filled with incidents.
