Alabama vs. Georgia betting odds: Crimson Tide shift to one-point favorite
After the Georgia Bulldogs were favored since lines for their showdown with the Alabama Crimson Tide were released, the betting odds have shifted for Saturday evening’s top clash.
According to BetMGM, the Bulldogs have gone from slight favorites to underdogs, as the Crimson Tide are now favored by one point at home. The over/under from BetMGM is set at 49.5 at the moment, as well.
Alas, one thing is for sure, each book is expecting a close game. Both behemoths had byes in Week 4, meaning that all of their attention this week has been on each other, and they’re entering the game unbeaten at 3-0 on the year.
Georgia has wins over Clemson, Tennessee Tech and Kentucky, while Alabama has handled Western Kentucky, USF and Wisconsin.
Alas, the game was talked about all offseason and is one of the biggest games of the entire college football season. It also marks Kalen DeBoer’s first taste of the Alabama vs. Georgia rivalry, so it remains to be seen if the freshly-minted head coach can handle the pressure. BetMGM believes he can.

Moreover, the Kalen DeBoer aspect is an interesting storyline to follow ahead of the SEC clash. He is getting quite the welcome to the league, facing off against what is arguably the top program in college football at the moment.
Georgia has won two of the past three national titles and is considered to be one of the top contenders once again for 2024.

DeBoer pointed out earlier this week that Alabama players are more familiar with Georgia than the coaching staff, because many Crimson Tide standouts faced Georgia last year. With that said, DeBoer has been working hard to get more familiar with the Bulldogs.
“So we know we’re going to face a well-rounded football team, one that is going to come into our place and it’s going to be a great contest and for our guys, there’s a lot of familiarity,” DeBoer said on his weekly coaches show. “More familiarity, probably, for our players, than there is for our coaches. But, we’re getting that figured out whether it was prep that we did this summer or work that was done now this week.”
Even though Georgia most recently played a bit of a lethargic offensive game against Kentucky, DeBoer knows that Sept. 28 will be a big, big challenge.
“I don’t think I look at that game and feel like — I take it that Kentucky can do some pretty good things, too. And that’s the way I look at it,” DeBoer said.
