The Bulldogs struggled in their only road game so far this season and had to hang on to beat Kentucky 13-12. Still, FanDuel has Georgia as an early favorite over the Crimson Tide.

This game was talked about all offseason and is one of the biggest games of the entire college football season. It also marks Kalen DeBoer’s first taste of the Alabama vs. Georgia rivalry.

One interesting aspect of this game is that this is the first SEC game for Kalen DeBoer as the Alabama head coach. He is getting quite the welcome to the league, facing off against what is arguably the top program in college football at the moment.

Georgia has won two of the past three national titles and is considered to be one of the top contenders once again for 2024.

DeBoer pointed out earlier this week that Alabama players are more familiar with Georgia than the coaching staff, because many Crimson Tide standouts faced Georgia last year. With that said, DeBoer has been working hard to get more familiar with the Bulldogs.

“So we know we’re going to face a well-rounded football team, one that is going to come into our place and it’s going to be a great contest and for our guys, there’s a lot of familiarity,” DeBoer said on his weekly coaches show. “More familiarity, probably, for our players, than there is for our coaches. But, we’re getting that figured out whether it was prep that we did this summer or work that was done now this week.”

Even though Georgia most recently played a bit of a lethargic offensive game against Kentucky, DeBoer knows that Sept. 28 will be a big, big challenge.

“I don’t think I look at that game and feel like — I take it that Kentucky can do some pretty good things, too. And that’s the way I look at it,” DeBoer said.
