New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara has submitted his pick for the team’s next head coach.

Kamara posted on social media Tuesday that his vote for head coach rhymes with “Fizzi,” which makes it quite obvious.

Of course, Kamara is referencing special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi, who served as the Saints’ interim head coach for the final eight games of the 2024 season following the dismissal of Dennis Allen.

Rizzi, 54, is a candidate for the head coaching vacancy, having interviewed with New Orleans this past Friday. The Saints started the season 2-7 under Allen and went 3-5 with Rizzi at the helm. Rizzi has been the team’s special teams coordinator since 2019, adding assistant head coach to his responsibilities in 2022.

The longtime NFL assistant has previously held special teams jobs with New Haven (1994-96), Northeastern (1998), Rutgers (2002-07) and the Miami Dolphins (2009-2018). Rizzi is one of the league’s best special teams coordinators and clearly has the confidence of the Saints’ best offensive player in Kamara.

Kamara’s call for Rizzi to get the job was met with mixed reactions from the fanbase, and the 29-year-old followed up with another post.

“Ion really speak too much football,” Kamara wrote. “Especially in the offseason. But it be funny hearing why yall think a coach should get a job or not. But then again.. the last time some yall played organized anything was last night on 2k. Can’t een get ya best friend to pass you the ball at the park. Wife mad as hell you yelling on the game all night.”

The Saints are continuing to go through the process, thus far completing interviews with Rizzi, Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady, Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, New York Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore and Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver.
