Alvin Kamara has taken to NASCAR like a fish to water, and he now has a legitimate interest in the sport’s future, and where it could go in the coming seasons.

The New Orleans Saints running back wasn’t always a fan of NASCAR, but over the last couple of seasons, he’s truly turned into a motorsports junkie. He’s even working with NASCAR to help grow the sport, and it’s evident he’s passionate about America’s top racers.

During the latest edition of Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour, Kamara joined the show, where he elaborated on what he’d like to see NASCAR improve on in the future, and it’s something that fans of the sport have been clamoring for over the last couple of years.

“I think, it’s a good segue — me and Mamba [Smith] talked about it, the international series. I think that would be amazing, because I think there are places that have the NASCAR interest,” Kamara explained. “I was literally just talking to somebody from Germany the other day, and they were interested in what I was doing. They were like, ‘I saw you at the race, what’re you doing?’ I was like, ‘NASCAR. I’m not sure if you guys have that.’ They were like, ‘Is it F1?’ I was like, ‘There’s cars, but.’ And then they started watching it and hit me back and they were like, ‘Oh my God, we should have that. Why don’t they have that here?’ I was like, ‘Well, kind of working on it.’

“So yeah, I think that would be great for the sport, because I mean, you just open it up to a whole new market. Once you get that international market, the sky is the limit.”

Moving into an international market is something NASCAR has been trying to do over the last couple of seasons, and Kamara recognizes how valuable that could be for the sport. Seeing as he comes from the NFL world, where football will be taken to England, Germany, Mexico and Brazil next season, it’s easy to see why he believes in the idea.

There’s been rumors of NASCAR adding a race in either Mexico or Canada for 2025, and that’s part of why the full schedule hasn’t been released yet for next season. Of course, the tradeoff is that it would come at the expense of one of the current dates on the schedule, with some theorizing Iowa could be back off the circuit.

Regardless, an international race featuring the NASCAR Cup Series would be incredible, and you can bet Alvin Kamara would be there to see it, as long as the Saints aren’t playing that weekend.
