Alvin Kamara pleads no contest to misdemeanor charge after Las Vegas nightclub attack
New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara has pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge for his alleged role in a fight that occurred in Las Vegas. David Charns of 8 News Now reported on the situation regarding the NFL running back on Tuesday.
Kamara initially pled not guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit battery and battery resulting in substantial bodily harm for an incident that happened in February 2022. Now, the running back entered a plea agreement for a lesser charge.
Per the report, “Kamara agrees to plead no contest to misdemeanor charge of breach of peace for Las Vegas nightclub beating.” The incident allegedly occurred during the NFL’s Pro Bowl week.
Kamara must participate in community service and owes the victim of the fight $100,000 in medical bills. The length of community service was not mentioned.
Kamara was one of four individuals facing punishment for the alleged beating at the Las Vegas nightclub in February. Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Chris Lemmons, Darrin Young and Percy Harris also faced charges for their alleged involvement.
The victim told police that the incident unfolded while waiting for elevators at Drai’s Nightclub. When an elevator door opened, Kamara allegedly put his hand on the victim’s chest to prevent him from entering.
The victim then pushed Kamara’s hand away. Then, the running back allegedly shoved the victim. It’s claimed that another individual — believed to be Lemmons — punched him.
