AM Racing releases statement after parting ways with Hailie Deegan
When Joey Logano took over the No. 15 car for Hailie Deegan at Chicago, it felt like AM Racing was making a big decision. Now, Deegan and her NASCAR team have officially parted ways, effective immediately.
Hailie Deegan moved up to the Xfinity Series in hopes that the racing would fit her style and strengths better. What ended up happening over the course of 17 races was not what she or AM Racing had in mind.
A season-best finish of P12 at Talladega and only four results inside of the top-20 on the year, AM Racing and Deegan decided they needed to part ways.
“AM Racing and Hailie Deegan have decided to part ways, effective immediately,” a statement from the team read. “We are grateful for Hailie’s contributions and dedication as the driver of the No. 15 Ford Mustang during her time with the race team.
“We wish Hailie the best in her future endeavors and look forward to her continued success on and off the track.”
Hailie Deegan and AM Racing have not clicked this season. It was been a hard road for Deegan since winning races in the K&N Pro West Series. She has had chances but also faced adversity unlike her male peers on the track. After this, it is hard to say where Deegan will end up.
She has sponsorship and has the fandom behind her to make some team take a chance. Is she going to land with a team good enough to put her in a position to succeed?

I do not believe this is a situation where all of the blame can go to one party. Deegan had shortcomings this season. AM Racing has also had shortcomings. Even their ARCA driver, Christian Rose, has struggled in recent races with only one top-10 in the last six starts.
Hailie Deegan releases statement on AM Racing decision
When drivers leave teams in the middle of a season, it is never a great look. It means there was a serious issue going on with the relationship, the performance, and more. From AM Racing’s and Deegan’s statement, it sounds like this was the best decision for all involved.
“Beginning this season, I had a lot of excitement and hope in taking my next step in the NASCAR Xfinity Series,” Deegan said, via her statement on social media. “It’s something I’ve been working towards for years and always dreamt about. I worked hard to prepare for this season after the team pursued me to drive their car. Unfortunately, it has not turned out the way that I expected. There are always several reasons within a race team as to why things do or do not work, but sadly our goals no longer align. With that being said, myself and AM Racing will be parting ways.
“The only thing I am focused on is getting back to being competitive. That is ALL that matters to me. I’m working as quick as possible to find the best opportunities to get back to the track. I’m thankful for the following that I have and everyone who supports me. It’s truly only me that knows the whole story and what I need to succeed. See you at the track, soon.”
The 22-year-old will try to pick up the pieces and find a new ride for 2025, I’m sure. It will be interesting if we see her make starts in any other series. Perhaps a few Truck and ARCA races to keep the senses fresh?
