Andres Perez clinches ARCA Menards Series championship, first Mexican-born champion
Andres Perez de Lara has done it. He has done enough to clinch the ARCA Menards Series championship over his teammate Lavar Scott. Perez is now fighting for the win at Toledo but William Sawalich will make the difficult.
It was a true points battle with none of the full-time drivers able to win a race this season. Drivers like Sawalich and Connor Zilisch made it impossible to break through.
In his second full-time season, Andres Perez is an ARCA champion. He is the first Mexican-born champion ever in the history of the series. Another championship for Rev Racing.
Andres Perez de Lara Gonzalez, the 2024 ARCA Menards Series champion. Born in Mexico City, Mexico, the 19-year-old is on the fast track to the NASCAR national series. He has one start in the Craftsman Truck Series. He finished P9 at Gateway for Spire Motorsports.
This was not an easy season. There were a lot of races that went to drivers with bigger budgets, more seat time, better crews, and even full-time Truck Series and Xfinity Series drivers. On the season, before the finish of Toldeo today, he has 16 top-10 finishes with 10 of those being top-5s.
Perez is an alumnus of the NACAM Formula 4 series as well as what used to be the NASCAR Mexico Truck Series. He won the championship in that series in 2020, won the NASCAR Challenge – Mexico in 2022, and a year ago finished runner-up to Jesse Love in the ARCA Menards Series.

Andrez Perez attempting to win first career race
In the season finale, Andres Perez is going to leave it all on the track. Every restart he is hassling William Sawalich and giving the Joe Gibbs Racing driver everything he can handle.
Of course, taking down the JGR team won’t be easy. It is something Perez has been unable to do for a win in two seasons of trying, but maybe today could be the day. If he can get the right adjustments during the race breaks, and maybe get a little luck with the 18 car, he could win this race at Toledo.
With Nick Sanchez moving up to the Xfinity Series, the No. 2 truck is open. That is a Rev Racing truck, but really an extra Spire Motorsports team. Perhaps Lavar Scott and Andres Perez were racing for more than just an ARCA title this year. Maybe they were racing for that Truck Series seat?
Hopefully, we see Perez get more chances in the Truck Series, if not a full-time gig. He has won an ARCA championship, albeit without a win, and he is ready to give something else a try. He’s been successful in just about every series he’s raced in, why not the Truck Series?
