Carolina Panthers quarterback Andy Dalton, who was involved in a car accident Tuesday, did not participate during the open portion of practice Wednesday.

Reporters on scene shared pictures of Dalton standing to the side while watching the rest of the team. The Panthers have to release an updated injury report.

With Dalton out, former No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young is getting the first-team reps at quarterback.

In five starts this season, Dalton has 989 yards, seven touchdowns, six interceptions and a 66.3% completion percentage. However, Carolina is 1-4 in the games he was under center from the start.

The Panthers are traveling out West for their next matchup, facing off against the Denver Broncos at 4:25 p.m. ET. Dalton’s health will be something to monitor moving forward after the car accident.

If Dalton ends up practicing prior to the game, it could indicate he will be back under center as the starter. But, everything is seemingly up in the air for the struggling Panthers.

However, the former Heisman winner and Alabama quarterback has struggled mightily to start his career. He’s 0-2 as a starter and has 299 yards, three interceptions and a 56.9% completion percentage this year.

Overall, Young has 3,176 yards, 11 touchdowns, 13 interceptions and a 59.5% completion percentage in 20 games (18 starts).

There’s been a lot of discussion regarding the handling of Young and Dalton in the Panthers’ organization. Hall of Famer Randy Moss blasted the organization for failing Young since they drafted him in 2023.

“You talk about the development — I remember hearing Tom Brady talk last week or a couple weeks ago talk about the development of these new generational quarterbacks [and] I think the Carolina Panthers failed this young man,” Moss said on ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown. “He’s had three coaches in 18 games, so where is the development coming at as the franchise player, the first overall pick.

“One thing that I will say is I just remember being in this league where the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders were the laughingstock of the NFL. And then it came with the Cleveland Browns. Right now, the laughingstock of the NFL is the Carolina Panthers and it’s not because of how they’re playing, it’s everything from ownership all the way down.”
