Andy Reid previews Super Bowl LIX: 'It's going to be great for the National Football League'
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is looking forward to his team competing in Super Bowl LIX against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, Feb. 9. While appearing on The Pat McAfee Show, Reid was asked if the Chiefs have an advantage over the Eagles since they have played in five Super Bowls in the last six years.
“It does help. We’re playing another Super Bowl-tested team,” Reid said. “They were there one of the times that we were there. I think in this case maybe it doesn’t really matter. It’s going to be two good teams playing each other. It’s going to be great for the National Football League and most of all for the fans out there.”
The Chiefs and Eagles faced each other in Super Bowl LVII and the Chiefs came away with a 38-35 victory. Kansas City is looking to be the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowls. Philadelphia is looking to win its second Super Bowl (and fifth league championship) in franchise history.
Andy Reid reveals the Chiefs’ biggest challenge in Super Bowl LIX
The Chiefs have more Super Bowl experience than the Eagles, but that doesn’t mean a win is guaranteed. While speaking to reporters on Monday, Andy Reid described what makes the Eagles dangerous.

“Those receivers have been in the offense for a while, and they’ve got good tight ends. They’ve got good receivers, I mean, real good receivers,” Reid said, per Chiefs Wire. “They’ve got a running back (Saquon Barkley) that, you know, arguably is one of the best in the history of the game. And their offensive line, for all those guys to work, their offensive line has to be good, too. So, and then their quarterback (Jalen Hurts) is dialing it up right now. So, whatever injuries he had early in the season, I mean, he’s playing like crazy right now. So that’s a heck of an offense, another huge challenge for us.”
Reid added, “We understand that we’ve got a big challenge ahead of us coming up with the Eagles. They’re (in the Super Bowl) for a reason: because they’re a good football team, and so we’ve got to make sure that we keep everything together and work to get a nice plan together for this group.”
