With 19 laps to go at Darlington today, Anthony Alfredo found himself spinning out as Leland Honeyman made contact. After the NASCAR Xfinity Series race, Alfredo did not hold back when commenting on the incident.

Today was going to be a really strong points day for Anthony Alfredo. He played the tire game perfectly in the first stage. He likely had a top-20 day or would at least be in contention for a strong finish like that.

For this Young’s Motorsports organization, those top-20 finishes and stage points are how they make money. That is how they progress the program. Not by wrecking race cars and finishing P31.

Here is the wreck. The caption references the original drivers of the throwback paint schemes involved in this wreck. Harrison Burton, Anthony Alfredo, Ryan Sieg, Matt DiBenedetto, Josh Williams, and Leland Honeyman were all involved.

Anthony Alfredo, 26, spoke to Dalton Hopkins of Frontstretch after the race. He ripped into Honeyman, 20, for not being qualified.

“Yeah I got wrecked by the same idiot that starts stuff all the time,” Alfredo said to Hopkins. “I mean, there’s zero qualification for this series anymore, and I’ve made a lot of dumb mistakes too, but I like to think I’ve learned from them. And when you see the same person making the same mistakes, it’s really disappointing to see even if you try to talk to them and help them. Lot of people don’t like getting out run by their old car.”

Anthony Alfredo did break down what happened in the wreck. And if you watch the replay, he’s absolutely correct.

“I was picking my way through traffic patiently and cleanly but those guys drove it in there, so deep I couldn’t believe it,” Alfredo continued. “I was like, there’s absolutely no way he’s making the corner. He ran straight into the back of the 25 car, then slid down in front of me, then hit the wall, overcorrected and destroyed me. Then, never held the brake pedal all the way down the track, and almost cleaned me out again. Someone else should be driving that race car. I’m so glad I don’t have to race him every week, and he’s part-time. No disrespect, but it’s the truth. I’m just speaking facts here.”

Before walking off from the interview, Alfredo gave one more hit at Honeyman. After hearing this, I gotta side with Alfredo.

“People like that don’t know better. I mean, he just told one of the guys on my team and asked them why I ran into him. That’s one thing you can’t fix in this world.”

When drivers don’t take responsibility, bad things happen. Anthony Alfredo says he reached out to Leland Honeyman in the past. He won’t be doing that again.
