Anthony Alfredo threatens to fight Nick Leitz after hitting the wall on Lap 1 at Kansas
When you find yourself in the wall on Lap 1 like Anthony Alfredo did today at Kansas, you’re bound to be a little upset. Alfredo was not having any of it after Nick Leitz put him into the wall to start the NASCAR race. It is just something that shouldn’t happen.
This Kansas Speedway track is tearing up tires today, folks. Xfinity Series, Cup Series, they have both had issues with tires on this track in one way or another. Expect this one to get really messy throughout the evening.
However, this had nothing to do with tires and everything to do with just not paying attention. Just as this race started, it was back under caution. Through 20 laps there have been three cautions, no rhythm to this one early on.
This is the incident Anthony Alfredo was involved in.
He got on his radio and said “I’m tired of this s**t. Someone is getting punched in the mouth,” according to Dustin Albino.
Anthony Alfredo has had a hard time this season. Just when he is running well, he usually finds himself in a mess like this. He was pretty far back in the field, so this might be the consequence of that. However, the 24-year-old driver has to be kicking himself a little bit.
While Nick Leitz is older than Alfredo, the younger of the two has far more experience in NASCAR. This is the first time Leitz has ever raced in the Xfinity Series. Let’s not forget that Alfredo raced full-time in the Cup Series back in 2021.

Anthony Alfredo trying to salvage his day
At this point, the goal is clear for Alfredo. He needs to just finish and get as many spots as he can. There are days where things just don’t go your way and this is that kind of day for him. Nothing wrong with it, but he is going to have to battle it out now.
With the first stage winding down, Alfredo is battling to get into the top-30 of the field. It is a fast field today in the Xfinity Series and it won’t be easy to bounce back. Kansas has proven that it is one of the best tracks in NASCAR. We saw an amazing battle at the end of the Truck Series race on Friday night. Hopefully, we get another three-wide battle at the end of this race.
A season of mishaps continues for Anthony Alfredo and his team. The only thing they can do now is drive and hope that things start to go their way.
As for the leaders, pole winner Justin Allgaier is leading. There are a few cars that are able to keep pace, but for the most part, it has been all Allgaier all day. Given how quick he was in qualifying, it is no surprise. It will be interesting if anyone can give the JR Motorsports driver a run for his money.
