Anthony Edwards trash talks Minnesota Timberwolves teammate Rudy Gobert in Olympic basketball gold medal game
Sunday afternoon’s men’s basketball final at the 2024 Paris Olympics has been chock full of action and excitement in the first half. The USA and France have been exchanging buckets in the first half. On one of Team USA’s three-point baskets in the first half, Minnesota Timberwolves fans got to see their star big man, Rudy Gobert of France, go up against their star guard, Anthony Edwards.
On that play, Edwards danced on his Minnesota teammate and stepped into the three-point basket. But it was the action that ensued afterward that caught the attention of everyone in attendance. After the made basket, Edwards preceded to remind Gobert of who he is with a little bit of trash talk. At the half, team USA sports an eight-point 49- 41 lead over France. Phoenix Suns superstar guard Devin Booker leads the United States in scoring with 13 points. For the host team, Guerschon Yabusle leads them and all scorers with 15 points.

Team USA and France are currently battling it out for the gold medal in men’s basketball. And France’s Guerschon Yabusele did not disappoint with an unforgettable highlight. He went baseline and posterized LeBron James of USA, knocking him to the ground with the thunderous jam.

Yabusele put together an impressive first half, stuffing the stat sheet with 15 points for France on 5 of 10 shooting from the field. USA led France 49-41 at the end of the first half, and that was thanks in large part to the run they went on after Yabusele’s posterization of James. Devin Booker also stuffed the stat sheet with 13 points on 5 of 7 shooting from the field for Team USA.
France was very cold from outside in the first half, connecting on just 3 of 16 shots (18.8%) from beyond-the-arc. USA drilled 9 of 20 shots (45.0%) from downtown in the first half. France had 26 points in the paint in the first half and USA had 20 points in the paint.
