Anthony Richardson is only 21 years old. Nonetheless, the Indianapolis Colts quarterback is already taunting opposing fanbases like a veteran.

After Colts running back Deon Jackson evened the score against the Eagles on Thursday evening, Richardson didn’t hesitate to let Eagles fans know about it. The former Florida standout rushed toward the stands while flapping his arms, mocking the “Fly, Eagles Fly” celebration.

A risky move for a rookie. Nonetheless, the Colts QB has confidence. Evidently, the Colts don’t mind. The organization drafted Richardson with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Now, Richardson is doing his best to prove they made the right decision.

It won’t be the first time Richardson has shined on the gridiron. In Florida’s 2022 campaign, Richardson finished with 2,549 passing yards and 17 touchdowns for an average of 212.42 yards per game.

Richardson’s arm wasn’t his only threat. The 6-foot-4 QB also finished second on the team in rushing touchdowns (9) and third in rushing yards (654). Those familiar with Richardson’s history, weren’t surprised by his dominant SEC play.

Richardson was a four-star recruit in high school, according to On3’s Industry Ratings. The Florida native was the No. 14 QB nationally and the 29th-best prospect from the Sunshine State. Colts head coach Shane Steichen has already seen Richardson’s talent shine through.

“I think just starting in OTAs, you know, getting him in here right in after the draft and just his work habits — and what he was doing and the athletic ability he brings and the playmaking ability he brings,” Steichen told SiriusXM NFL Radio. “And then going into training camp, just still continuing and seeing that growth.

“Then, getting him in that preseason game, starting him against a lot of the Buffalo starters. They’ve got a really good defense. And I thought he had great poise. We had the early interception but to see him bounce back from that and make the throws that he did and the plays he made, just excited about his future.”

Steichen didn’t stop his praise there.

“Great high-character guy,” Steichen said. “I mean, just the way he treats people, the way he goes about it. He’s a charismatic guy. He cares about people. Great teammate. Wants to do everything right.

“Going through that draft process with him and the vetting process about him, and guys that I know and trust that have coached him at Florida had nothing but great things to say about him. And then you just see the upside on film. It just jumps off the tape. You watch the tape in the draft and it’s like, ‘Holy smokes.’ There ain’t many guys that can do the things he’s doing. So, let’s roll.”
