Archie Manning reveals he wants grandson Arch Manning to play for Dallas Cowboys in NFL
Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning hasn’t even yet wrapped up his freshman season in Austin, and his grandfather, Archie Manning, already has an idea of who he’d like to see him play for in the NFL.
Arch Manning is a few years away from being eligible for the NFL Draft but when that day comes, Archie Manning would be in favor of seeing him quarterbacking America’s Team, the Dallas Cowboys.
“I hope he’ll play three years at Texas,” Archie Manning said in a recent video posted to Top Level Sports on TikTok. “I hope he’ll play three more years. You know it’s funny, nobody’s ever asked me that. But right off the bat, if somebody asked me, I’d say the Cowboys.”
Arch Manning developing behind Quinn Ewers at Texas
If Manning plays just two more seasons with the Longhorns, he’ll be eligible to enter the 2027 NFL Draft. For what it’s worth, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott would have just two years left on the four-year, $240 million deal he signed with Dallas before the season. Manning obviously wouldn’t have to go far, and he would become the first of the Manning quarterbacks to play for the Cowboys.
Of course, Manning has a ways to go before he even thinks about the NFL. His focus is on Saturday’s SEC Championship Game in Atlanta, where No. 2 Texas plays No. 5 Georgia in a rematch from earlier this season. While Quinn Ewers remains the starter, head coach Steve Sarkisian has found ways to get Manning involved this season.

Manning has appeared in seven games, throwing for 939 yards, nine touchdowns and two interceptions on 67.8% passing. He has added 95 yards and four scores on the ground. Time will tell how much action he sees against the Bulldogs, though head coach Kirby Smart is preparing as if his team will see him.
“He’s what everybody thought he was,” Smart said, via a press conference earlier this week. “He’s athletic, smart, thick. Great thrower. He can run their entire offense, while at the same time creating designed runs, or off-schedule runs. Both are scary. Because designed runs, with him, are tough to defend, because you’re having to defend the whole field. And then he’s also an elite thrower and passer. I mean, he’s a great player.
“They’ve brought him along that way. He’s gained confidence each and every week. He had to start some games. I mean, you couldn’t write a better story for him, in terms of development, to be ready to go and be the starter.”
