Arizona Cardinals, Hjalte Froholdt agree to two-year, $12 million extension
The Arizona Cardinals have agreed to a two-year, $12 million extension with offensive lineman Hjalte Froholdt, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
The Denmark native made a name for himself at the college level with the Arkansas Razorbacks, and he was drafted in the fourth round by the New England Patriots during the 2019 NFL Draft. Since then, he’s bounced around the league a bit, spending time with the Cleveland Browns and Houston Texans, as well.
After joining the Cardinals in 2023, Froholdt truly found a home, having his best season as a professional and making himself an essential piece of Arizona’s future plans. That’s why the Cardinals decided to extend the former Razorbacks lineman on Wednesday.
“The #AZCardinals are rewarding one of their most underrated players, reaching a contract extension with C Hjalte Froholdt through 2026, sources say,” Rapoport posted on X, formerly known as Twitter. “He bounced around and played for three teams, but Froholdt has found a home in Arizona after starting every game last season.
“It’s a 2-year extension worth $12M with $8M guaranteed, sources say. A well-earned payday.”

Kyle McCord, who is entering his first season as the quarterback at Syracuse, spoke at the ACC Football Kickoff event about Harrison Jr. and what kind of receiver he will be in the NFL.
“He’s the best receiver I’ve ever been around, that I’ve ever seen in person,” Kyle McCord said. “I think you take away obviously his physical traits that you can see when you turn on the tape, just a great guy on and off the field. I obviously went to high school with him so I’ve known him a while now. Extremely hard worker.”
“… Was the hardest working guy in the facility last year. And I think he’s just a pro,” McCord said. “I think that’s the biggest thing I can say about Marvin. He takes it extremely serious and has dedicated his life to it.”
With Hjalte Froholdt and Marvin Harrison Jr. locked in for 2024, the Arizona Cardinals could make some noise in a crowded NFC this season, if Kyler Murray can play to the best of his abilities.
