Report: Arizona Cardinals receiver Marquise 'Hollywood' Brown charged with criminal speeding

Marquise “Hollywood” Brown has been arrested and charged with criminal speeding, according to 98.7 Arizona Sports.

“Arizona Cardinals receiver Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown was arrested Wednesday morning on criminal speeding charges, the Arizona Department of Public Safety confirmed to KTAR News 92.3 FM and Arizona Sports,” read the article. “Brown was arrested at 7:05 a.m. heading southbound on Loop 101 driving in an HOV lane, according to DPS spokesman Bart Graves.”

After the news was made public, the publication added that the Arizona Cardinals made a statement regarding their awareness on the matter.

“We are aware of the situation regarding Hollywood Brown and have reported it to the NFL office as required. We will comment further as appropriate,” the Cardinals said in a statement.

According to TMZ Sports, Brown missed practice on Wednesday due to the incident.

“Cardinals star Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown spent his Wednesday morning in jail instead of getting ready for training camp practice,” wrote TMZ. “TMZ Sports has confirmed he was arrested hours before the workout began.

“According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, Brown was stopped on Route 101 in north Phoenix at around 7:05 AM, and was arrested for criminal speeding. Bart Graves, a DPS spokesperson, tells us as of 10:30 AM, Brown was still in custody.”

Brown is entering his first season with the Arizona Cardinals following a trade that brought him to town from the Baltimore Ravens. An electrifying player with the football in his hands, he played his college football at Oklahoma, with Cardinals star quarterback Kyler Murray at the helm of the offense.

Moreover, Baltimore Ravens fans and their former MVP quarterback, Lamar Jackson, were caught surprised by the team trading Marquise “Hollywood” Brown to the cardinals. However, the trade was not a surprise to Brown, who later revealed that he requested a trade from Baltimore.

During an interview with the I Am Athlete Podcast, Brown confirmed that the rumor regarding his trade request and its authenticity. The former Oklahoma Sooners wide receiver explained that it was not a knee-jerk reaction and was based on how the thought things were going in Baltimore.

“It was just (about) my happiness. I mean, I talked to Lamar about it, you know, after my second year,” said Brown. “And you know then I after my third year, leading up to the end of the season, he wasn’t playing, and I let him know again, like, yeah bro I can’t do it. And you know it’s not really on Lamar.

“Like I love Lamar it was just, you know, it’s just the system wasn’t for me personally.”
