Iowa State entered the weekend needing a win against Kansas State and got it to escape 29-21 in Ames. That set up a scenario where the Cyclones just needed BYU to win Saturday night against Houston to punch clinch their spot in the title game. If BYU lost, then Colorado make it over Iowa State.

Houston fought until the end to make it interesting, as it remained a one possession game down to the final five minutes. However, it would ultimately be BYU that prevailed, catapulting Iowa State into the championship game.

Iowa State advanced to the Big 12 Championship for the first time in program history. Of course, it is also the first for Arizona State, which just moved to the conference from the Pac-12 this season.

The Big 12 Championship game is set to kick off at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday, Dec. 7 and will be televised on ABC.
