Arizona State vs. Texas: Early point spread released for Peach Bowl, College Football Playoff quarterfinal
The third College Football Playoff quarterfinal is set. It will be Arizona State vs. Texas, and the early point spread has been released.
The Longhorns opened as 13.5-point favorites over the Sun Devils, according to FanDuel. The over-under also opened at 50.5.
Arizona State punched its ticket to the Peach Bowl as one of the four highest-ranked conference champions. The Sun Devils finished the regular season red-hot en route to a Big 12 title to come in as the No. 4 seed in the 12-team bracket.
That meant ASU would take on either Texas or Clemson in the CFP quarterfinal. The Longhorns survived a fourth-quarter scare – thanks in large part to Jaydon Blue’s long run and a huge defensive stand – to seal the first-round win, 38-24, over the Tigers and advance in the bracket.
Now, it will be Arizona State vs. Texas with a spot in the College Football Playoff semifinals on the line. Here’s how to watch the Peach Bowl.

Arizona State brings plenty of momentum into the College Football Playoff. Fueled by Cam Skattebo and the high-powered offense, the Sun Devils won six straight games to end the year – including a 45-19 victory over Iowa State in the Big 12 Championship to punch their ticket to the CFP.
With a bye in its pocket, ASU waited patiently to find out who it would play in the Peach Bowl. It looked obvious at first, but things got interesting late in the second half between Clemson and Texas.
The Longhorns led 31-10 at the start of the third quarter, but the Tigers rallied back. It was a one-score game in the fourth quarter before Jaydon Blue ripped off a 77-yard touchdown run to put Texas back on top, 38-24.
Clemson again looked like it was marching down the field, getting as far as the Longhorns’ 1-yard line. But they held strong, keeping Keith Adams out of the end zone on fourth down to maintain a 14-point lead. A costly Tigers penalty then took Texas out of the shadow of its own goalpost, which allowed the offense to seal the game and advance to the College Football Playoff quarterfinals.
