Former Arkansas Razorbacks receiver Treylon Burks is an undeniable first-round talent in the 2022 NFL Draft. This makes him a very popular prospect at this week’s scouting combine in Indianapolis. He’s met with several teams but his meeting with the New England Patriots stood out.

“It was really intense just knowing that you’re in a meeting with the Patriots,” Burks told the media. “Their organization is held to a high standard. I just went in there and took it on like a man.”

The star from Warren, Ark., also said he would be honored to play for Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.

Treylon Burks has also met with the New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles and the Miami Dolphins after day one of the combine. Despite the mutual interest between Burks and the Patriots, there’s a good chance that he’s off the draft board before their No. 21 pick rolls around.

Talking to the media on Wednesday at the NFL combine, Burks said he is trying to “mimic” his game after San Francisco 49ers do it all player, Deebo Samuel.

Burks had 66 receptions for 1104 yards and 11 touchdowns on the season. Of his 12 appearances, half of them ended with the wide receiver having at least 100 yards receiving.

Patriots eye first-round WR talent for Mac Jones

With the future of the franchise at quarterback seemingly locked in with young Mac Jones, the New England Patriots could look to give him a first-round talent to throw to in the 2022 NFL Draft. None of the Patriots receivers eclipsed 1,000 yards in 2021, so the timing is right to take a shot on a skill guy in the first round.

NFL analyst Daniel Jeremiah believes Bill Belichick and the Pats will go big with their No. 21 overall pick. Ohio State’s Chris Olave and Penn State’s Jahan Dotson could be available, however, Alabama’s Jameson Williams might be on the board still as well.

“Both of these guys (Olave, Dotson) are going to run in the 4.3s. So they’re going to fly, and maybe that helps elevate them up the board a little bit,” Jeremiah said. “But both those guys are pristine route runners with big-time speed. That would give them some playmaking ability. … Dotson, for me, I think he has the best hands in the draft. He really attacks the football. He’s got outstanding ability to adjust, he can catch it back hip, above the rim, you name it, he can do it.”

If New England waits until their second-round pick at No. 54 to take a wide receiver, Jeremiah mentioned Western Michigan’s Skyy Moore and North Dakota State’s Christian Watson as potential takes.
