Ashton Jeanty reveals his best quality ahead of NFL Draft
Ashton Jeanty is ready to show the NFL what he can do after a successful run with the Boise State Broncos. On3 recently caught up with the All-American running back and revealed his best quality as the 2025 NFL Draft approaches.
“I think all the best running backs, they’re able to break tackles at a high level, whether it be d-linemen, linebackers, safeties, corners,” Jeanty told On3. “They can break tackles from anybody anywhere on the field. I have that home run hidden ability. Take it 60, 70 (yards). So I think that’s what separates me from a lot of other running backs, but also catching the ball out the backfield. I didn’t do that as much this year because it was a different offense. But whoever picks me, they will have a guy who’s versatile and can do it all.”
Jeanty only had 23 receptions for 138 yards and one touchdown in 2024. But he ran the ball at a high level, rushing for 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns on 374 carries. During the 2023 season, Jeanty was utilized more as a receiver, catching 43 passes for 569 yards and five scores to go along with his 1,347 rushing yards and 14 rushing TDs.
How Ashton Jeanty is preparing for the draft
Ashton Jeanty is projected to be a first-round pick because he can do it all as a running back. As the draft approaches, Jeanty revealed what he’s doing to prepare for events like the Combine and Pro Days.

“I think most importantly is after getting 400 carries, you got to give the body some rest. So getting some rest, rehabbing, treating those things that got banged up, but then training the EXOS in Atlanta,” Jeanty said. “So from a full perspective of drills, all the drills that would be at Combine, preparing for those, watching film on those, all types of things, and then getting with a running back coach, going over the X’s and O’s and then what kind of questions are you going to get from GMs, scouts? More on a personal level and just preparing for each and every single area that I’ll be stepping into.”
In 2024, Jeanty won the Maxwell and Doak Walker Award and finished second in Heisman voting behind Travis Hunter. He was 28 yards away from breaking the NCAA FBS single-season all-time rushing record held by Barry Sanders.
