Byron Terry got to do something he had wanted to do for a long time and that’s hosting a football camp that includes notable former college and NFL players like Latavious Brini and Quincy Carter. The camp, which was called the BJT (Byron Jamar Terry) Inspire Football Camp, took place this past weekend at Mt. Bethel Christian Academy in the Metro Atlanta area, and middle school-aged kids were coached by Brini, Carter, Terry and others for three hours.

On3 attended the camp and spoke to Terry about how everything went. “It was fun,” Terry told On3. “I’m super thankful just to have everybody come out here, especially all the media, all the players, all the parents, everybody that came to help me coach and everything. So I appreciate everybody.”

Terry, an Atlanta-based sports media personality who has written for multiple outlets and has his own YouTube show, praised Brini and Carter for helping the kids work on their speed, agility and overall skills. He also mentioned that two more former NFL players, Jonathan Dwyer and Tyson Graham, were scheduled to coach but couldn’t make it.

Terry also recruited his former high school teammate Sean Queen to coach at the camp. The two played at Eagles Landing Christian Academy, located in McDonough, Georgia, which is south of Atlanta.

What to know about Latavious Brini and Quincy Carter

Georgia Bulldogs fans know about Latavious Brini as he played defensive back for the team from 2018 to 2021 and helped the team win the national title during the 2021 season. In 2022, Brini transferred to Arkansas and finished the season with 55 tackles, one interception and two fumble recoveries. Brini then signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars before the 2023 season after attending rookie minicamp that summer.

Quincy Carter played for the Bulldogs from 1998 to 2000. During his time at UGA, Carter was named SEC Freshman of the Year in 1998 and selected to the All-SEC Second Team in 1999. The Dallas Cowboys selected Carter in the second round of the 2001 NFL Draft, and he played in 31 games in three seasons. In 2004, Carter joined the New York Jets and posted a 2-1 record in three starts.

This leads to the question of how Terry launched the came and had Brinni and Carter involved. “I tweeted back in 2018, I was like, I want to have my own football camp one day. I want to just help the youth, inspire the youth,” he said. “I want to have my own football camp and really just talk to them and talk to them about good values, and good work ethic, and character, and everything. I was like, I hope that I can do that one day.

How Byron Terry launched his first camp with former NFL and college players

“Then 2025 comes around and I talked to MET Agency Sports. They’ve helped me operate the camp, so shout out to them as well. …I’ve been with them for like marketing and interning with them. So I was just telling them like, ‘Hey, I want to run a camp. It’s been a goal of mine to have my own football camp one day.’ They helped me. So I was like, ‘Okay, so what do I need?’

Terry then made “a lot” of calls to coaches and media members in a short amount of time to quickly put the camp together. With the help of the coaches, the kids learned how to be great players on the field and great people off the field.

Terry enjoyed hosting his first camp, which means another one could be coming soon. And if that happens, he would love to have more NFL and college football players mentor kids in an area that loves, understands and appreciates football.

“I feel like I can learn so much from so many people, Terry stated. “I think I can have some more NFL players here, some more college football players, and everything. So you know, I’ve been around that sort of college recruiting, professional sports space for a long time. So I made a lot of friends throughout.”

Terry added, “I’m so thankful and appreciative of all the support from family especially, friends, and such. Not just for the camp but in general. It truly means a lot to me.“
