The Atlanta Falcons have been busy putting together a new coaching staff. They recently decided to tab Raheem Morris as their new head coach. And on Saturday evening, they decided to bring in former Oklahoma State star Zac Robinson.

He’ll be the offensive coordinator for the Falcons, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Robinson was a highly coveted commodity in the coaching carousel and was Morris’ top choice.

Robinson is getting a three-year contract, according to Albert Breer. He also interviewed with the Bears, Patriots, and the Saints virtually. The Saints, Raiders, and Steelers all wanted him to interview in-person.

Robinson will have an exciting nucleus of weapons to work with on the Falcons’ offense. Running back Bijan Robinson, tight end Kyle Pitts, and wide receiver Drake London form one of the most exciting trios in the league. All the team will need to find is a quarterback to distribute the ball to their offensive weapons.

A former quarterback at Oklahoma State and in the NFL, Robinson has spent the past four seasons with the Rams. He began as an assistant quarterbacks coach in 2019 and went on to work with receivers as well before becoming passing game coordinator this past season.

The Rams won a Super Bowl in Robinson’s third year with the team, finishing third in the NFL with 8.1 yards per pass attempt. Robinson worked with both Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp that season, the latter of which led the NFL in all receiving categories with 145 catches for 1,947 yards and 16 touchdowns.

The Rams took a significant step back in 2022 as they struggled with injuries, finishing 5-12 and missing the playoffs. Despite this, Robinson has developed a reputation as a rising star at only 36 and is reportedly drawing interest from a number of teams across the league.

Zac Robinson was a star for the Oklahoma State Cowboys

Zac Robinson played at Oklahoma State from 2006-09, finishing his Cowboys career with 8,317 yards passing, 66 touchdowns and 31 interceptions. He added 1,858 yards rushing and 22 more scores on the ground. From there, he was selected in the seventh round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots.

However, Robinson never played a game for the Patriots as he was released before the start of that season. He went on to sign with the Seattle Seahawks on their practice squad, and also played for the Lions and Bengals before retiring in 2014.

A native of Littleton, Colorado, now Robinson has begun to find success in his coaching career.
