After some mixed reviews regarding the reconfiguration of Atlanta Motor Speedway since its inception, Sunday’s Ambetter Health 400 drew rave ratings.

Drivers, fans and media members alike adored the racing we saw throughout Sunday afternoon. Of course, it was all capped off by one of the best finishes you’re ever going to see at a NASCAR race, with Daniel Suarez beating Ryan Blaney and Kyle Busch by one of the smallest margins in the sport’s history.

Check out the reviews below, from Kyle Larson to Richard Petty himself, praising the racing we saw in Atlanta on Sunday afternoon on social media following the event.

“That was the most fun I’ve ever had in a drafting race. Extremely intense! Hate bad luck got ahold of us again there but happy with our execution in these first 2 races!” Larson posted on X, following his P32 finish on the afternoon.

“I was a complete race fan tonight,” Justin Marks of Trackhouse Racing told Chris Knight of Catchfence, after his driver ended up in Victory Lane when the event was finished.

“’That was sick!’ says our @nascar President @stevephelps with a big smile on pit road after that amazing 3-wide finish where Suarez wins in Atlanta! What a race!,” NASCAR pit reporter Wendy Venturini of PRN posted on X, relaying what Phelps had to say regarding the event.

“Best view of the race,” Petty posted, showing off his birds-eye view of the event, where he evidently enjoyed himself. “What a show!”

“By far the best race I’ve got to call since being in that booth. It was so exciting at the end that it made it hard to talk. Still wound up!!! The boys put on a show today,” FOX’s Clint Bowyer posted, as the excitement was evident in his voice throughout the race.

We’re going to say that’s some pretty great reviews for the future of Atlanta Motor Speedway. Some have thought the reconfiguring of the track was more of a cheap gimmick than anything, but after Sunday’s race, it’s hard to argue with the success of the idea.

Moving forward, Atlanta may become a must-see destination for NASCAR fans, especially if the racing continues to look the way it did on Sunday. Additionally, it’ll be the opener for the playoffs this season, so it’s bound to be even crazier when the sport returns to the track in the fall.

Alas, drivers, fans and media members can’t wait to return to Georgia for Atlanta’s second date, and if it’s anything like Sunday’s race, it could be an all-timer. The hype will be through the roof for that one.
