Auburn running back Jarquez Hunter declares for 2025 NFL Draft

Auburn running back Jarquez Hunter officially declared for the 2025 NFL Draft on Thursday evening. Hunter made the news official in an announcement via his Twitter page.

Hunter wrote a lengthy post on his Twitter page. The final parts of it read, “I want to thank all my coaches during the time of me being at Auburn, thank you for taking a chance on me and giving me an opportunity to show my talents to the world. Thank you for believing in me, giving me an opportunity to grow as a player and as a man. Teaching me how to carry myself through adversity and showing me how to treat people. Coming to Auburn is one of the best decisions I made in my life, and it has been a blessing to have been here,” Hunter wrote.

“To my teammates, I love y’all and we will forever be family! With that being said, I will be declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft,” Hunter finished.

He was one of the best running backs in the SEC the past few years. He finished his 2024 season with 1,201 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. In 2023, he ran for over 900 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. And in 2021 and 2022, in each year, Hunter finished with over 500 rushing yards. Hunter cemented his legacy as one of the best running backs to ever suit up on The Plains and the numbers back that up.

He currently ranks fourth all-time in Auburn football history in career rushing yardage (3,371 rushing yards). His 278 rushing yards he had against Kentucky in the 2024 season rank as the fourth most in a single game in program history, right behind Tre Mason and Bo Jackson. His 25 rushing touchdowns in his career currently tied him for eighth in Tiger program history. He’s tied with Tank Bigsby in eighth place.
