Austin Cindric enters Rolex 24 at Daytona after driver injured while skiing
Another NASCAR driver will race the Rolex 24 at Daytona. Austin Cindric will fill in for an injured Ben Barker after a skiing incident. Cindric will pilot the No. 64 Multimatic Motorsports Ford Mustang GT3.
Austin Cindric was not originally signed up for this race. However, with Ford being down a driver, Cindric is stepping up and will participate in the iconic endurance race.
For the Rolex 24 at Daytona, Cindric is sharing his car with Mike Rockenfeller and Sebastian Priaulx. NASCAR fans will know Rockenfeller from his one-off starts in the Cup Series in 2023.
Rockenfeller is a World Endurance Champion as well as a 24 Hours of Le Mans champion. He has the credentials, even at 41 years old, to anchor this team for Daytona.
John Dagys of Sportscar365 broke the roster news earlier today.
“The 24 Hours of Daytona has become a very meaningful event for me and my career,” said Cindric, via Dagys. “This will be my sixth opportunity to run this race, and with the Ford Mustang GT3, it’s one of the best opportunities I’ll have had at taking one of those watches home.
“It’s important that I wish Ben all the best in his recovery as I get to keep his seat warm. I’m keen to do my part in contributing to a great result, but also representing Multimatic and Ford properly as they start their season in IMSA.”
Austin Cindric has competed in this race five times before. He has a best finish of P5 from 2019 and 2022 in the GTD class. He has not raced the Rolex 24 since 2023 with Rick Ware Racing in the LMP2 category. His team finished P6.

When it comes to his road course skills, Cindric is often lauded for them. They haven’t always shown in the Cup Series, but the Team Penske driver knows how to go left AND right and does it pretty well.
Austin Cindric taking on Rolex 24 amid Trackhouse effort
The fun thing about the Rolex 24 at Daytona this season is all of the NASCAR representation. Austin Cindric is the latest driver to throw his hat into this race. Meanwhile, Trackhouse Racing is putting up an all-star roster for the race.
Shane van Gisbergen and Connor Zilisch are the future of Trackhouse. No matter how you put it. They also happen to be the two best road course racers in NASCAR right now. 34 and 18 years old is a big age gap, but not when it comes to talent.
Those two are going to be joined by Scott McLaughlin and Ben Keating. McLaughlin is an IndyCar star now, but like SVG is a three-time Supercars champion. Keating is an endurance veteran and at 53 years old, is 35 years older than his youngest teammate, Zilisch.
NASCAR fans will have something to watch when it comes to the Rolex 24 at Daytona. It won’t be long until we see stock cars on the oval for the 500. Folks, the offseason is about over and it’s time to once again go racing.
