After Joey Logano lit up his radio with f-bombs for his teammate Austin Cindric at Talladega, things at Team Penske were a little awkward. The two NASCAR drivers had to face each other in the team meeting this week after their dirty laundry was put out for everybody to see.

Austin Cindric ended up winning the Talladega race after Joey Logano dragged his name in the mud a bit. Logano stands by his words, at least he doesn’t see anything wrong with them. NASCAR drivers have been saying bad things about teammates for decades, folks.

Still, it doesn’t look good when put out in writing. Cindric was asked today about how this week’s meeting went. It wasn’t exactly a huge party.

“It’s always awkward, right?” Cindric said, via Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports. “It’s one of the larger challenges of doing races like that when you expect so much out of each other and rely so much on each other. And I think there are way more times that I’ve had success on tracks like that because I’ve had my teammates around me and vice versa.

“So, I think that’s really important for us. It’s something we put a ton of focus on, and as a race team, you have to have those conversations.”

What a weekend it was for Austin Cindric. Then he had people like Hall of Famer Chipper Jones coming out swinging for him, no pun intended.

Austin Cindric reflects on Chipper Jones’ support

Chipper Jones felt that Joey Logano left Austin Cindric out to dry with his comments. Then, Logano responded on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. Of course, Cindric had to address the drama when he went on the Dale Jr. Download.

During media scrums at Texas, Cindric was asked about the whole controversy. He had an interesting take on the situation.

“I mean, I know of him, I know who he is,” Cindric said of Chipper Jones, via Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports. “I don’t follow too much baseball, but to have someone like that, with eyes on our sport, a Hall of Famer, is really cool. Like I said already, the rest of it’s a lot of noise, but it’s cool to have someone like that behind me. But otherwise, yeah, definitely sounds like a NASCAR fan.”

Austin Cindric and Joey Logano are adults. They are also professionals. So, I don’t expect this to be much of an issue for Team Penske moving forward.
