Austin Hill to return to NASCAR Cup Series with Richard Childress Racing

Good news for Austin Hill! He is getting five more NASCAR Cup Series starts with Richard Childress Racing later this season. The fun starts at Darlington with Andy Street as crew chief on the No. 33 United Rentals Chevy.
The Xfinity Series championship contender turns heads on Saturdays with his driving. He is back for more in the top tier of the sport.
Austin Hill has 10 prior starts in the Cup Series. He has raced for RCR and Beard Motorsports in those efforts. He has a P18 at Michigan and a P14 at Daytona as his best finishes.
Richard Childress Racing will put Hill in the 33-car once again. First up is Darlington. He will race the Chicago Street Course and the regular season finale at Daytona. Playoff races at Bristol, and Talladega will round out his schedule.
Richard Childress Racing continues to prepare Austin Hill for a potential Cup Series seat one day. If this organization ever expanded to three charters that would do a lot to help RCR and Hill make that transition. With Kyle Busch and Austin Dillon in those two chartered cars now, the wait could be a while.
In the Xfinity Series, we have seen Hill win plenty of races. Those superspeedways are his bread and butter. I am very interested to see Hill racing at Chicago and Bristol. A street course and a short track are going to put Hill through a few learning moments.
Credit to Austin Hill and RCR for putting a pretty diverse schedule together with only five races. Now, when will Jesse Love make his Cup Series debut with Childress?

Austin Hill excited about new Cup Series opportunity
When you aren’t a top Cup Series driver, it can be uncertain what the future holds. Austin Hill has a home in the Xfinity Series, but it is probably nice to get these races on the schedule. Cup racing is a privilege and nothing is ever guaranteed.
“I’m very appreciative of the opportunity to run the No. 33 United Rentals Chevrolet again this year,” said Hill in a team press release. “United Rentals has been a longtime supporter of my career and to continue that relationship once again at the top level of our sport is special. I’ve enjoyed my starts in the Cup Series so far and the goal is to keep learning every time I climb into the car.
“We have been strategic with adding new tracks to the lineup each season, which allows me to gain valuable experience. Racing for Richard at any level is an honor, but especially in the Cup Series. The focus remains on winning the Xfinity Series championship in November, but any laps in the Cup car are important for the future.”
Development. You don’t see it a lot in modern NASCAR. However, with talent like Austin Hill and others coming up through the ranks, teams are starting to invest a lot of resources into the next generation.
