Baltimore Ravens announce extension for kicker Justin Tucker

The Baltimore Ravens announced that they have inked a new four-year extension with former Texas Longhorns kicker Justin Tucker. The new deal returns Tucker to the top of the leaderboard for highest-paid kickers in the NFL after the Steelers extended Chris Boswell for $5 million a year last week.

The four-year deal is worth $24 million, according to NFL reporter Aaron Wilson. It reportedly includes a $17.5 million guaranteed with $11.5 million signing bonus.

Tucker still had two years left on his prior deal and this extension keeps him in Baltimore through the 2027 season. He’ll be 38 when his new contract ends.

Entering his 11th season with the Ravens, Tucker is the most accurate kicker in NFL history with a 91.1 field-goal percentage. He’s one of just three kickers with a career conversion rate over 90%. He also holds the record for the NFL’s longest field goal – a 66-yarder versus Detroit.

The former Longhorns star is a five-time first-team All-Pro, notching back-to-back-to-back selections over the last three years. In 2021, Tucker went 35 of 37 on field-goal attempts while making all 32 extra points.

As he’s become one of the league’s most accurate kickers, Justin Tucker has also become one of the most clutch. He has made 57-straight fourth-quarter or overtime field goal attempts.

“He’s the best who’s ever done it,” Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said of Tucker during a segment on his kicker. When prompted, the coach even said Tucker, who went undrafted, would now be worth a first-round pick. 

In his time with the Longhorns, Justin Tucker played as both a punter and kicker. He averaged 40.5 yards per punt, punting 155 times over his four-year career. He also made 71-of-71 extra point attempts and was 40-of-48 on field goal attempts. Tucker went undrafted in the 2012 NFL Draft but signed with the Ravens, where he has played ever since.
