Baltimore Ravens announce massive change in front office
The Baltimore Ravens have experienced some turnover in their staff this offseason. And on Friday, Baltimore announced another major departure. Ravens president Dick Cass will retire from the team after 18 years of service.
Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti wasted very little time in finding a successor. Along with the announcement of the retirement of Cass, Bisciotti also named Sashi brown as Baltimore’s next president.
Cass took over for David Modell as president of the Ravens back in 2004. Prior to working with the Ravens, he has worked with various teams and is well known throughout the ownership circle in the NFL. He worked with and represented Jerry Jones in his acquisition of the Dallas Cowboys.
He also worked as counsel for the Washington Commanders, representing Jack Kent Cooke’s family they sold the team to current owner Daniel Snyder.
Baltimore hires new DC
The Ravens have officially hired Michigan defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald to be the leader of their defense, according to a Thursday night press release. After transforming the Wolverines defense, Macdonald is returning to the franchise where he cut his teeth.

“Mike is one of us – a Raven through and through,” Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said in the press release. “During his initial seven seasons with us, it was evident that his leadership, intelligence and passion would earn him the opportunity to be a defensive coordinator in the NFL.
Before joining Michigan, Mike Macdonald was with the Baltimore Ravens from 2014-2020. After beginning his career in Baltimore as an intern in 2014, he’s returning to become the Ravens’ defensive coordinator in 2022.
Macdonald will be replacing Don Martindale, who agreed to part ways with the team in Jan. Martindale had been with the Ravens since 2012 and has been their defensive coordinator for the past four years; helping to lead them to four straight playoff appearances and two AFC North titles in the past four years.
