Baltimore Ravens select Notre Dame safety Kyle Hamilton in 2022 NFL Draft
The Baltimore Ravens selected Notre Dame safety Kyle Hamilton, who ranks as the best player at his position, with the No. 14 overall pick in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. After establishing himself as one of the best defensive backs in the country, his testing numbers led to a late slide which could made him a steal.
Kyle Hamilton, at 6-foot-4 with great length, finished his college career with 138 tackles, eight interceptions and 16 pass deflections. He also added 7.5 tackles for loss in 31 games.
A former four-star plus recruit in the class of 2019, he was the No. 62 overall player in the nation per the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average. The Atlanta, Georgia native also ranked as the No. 6 safety and No. 9 player in his home state after playing at Marist School.
NFL draft analysts on Kyle Hamilton
NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein broke down what Kyle Hamilton can bring to the NFL in his recent scout of the safety’s draft profile. The analyst compared the Notre Dame product to former Seattle Seahawks star Kam Chancellor, one of the hardest hitting players of his era.

The NFL.com scout pointed out that while his combine numbers did not meet expectations, his film and on-field production leave many excited for the future.
“High-impact safety with unique blend of traits and characteristics that make him a bit of a unicorn at the position,” wrote Zierlein. “Hamilton has the eyes and speed to play over the top, the strength and toughness to play near the line, and coverage length to guard elite pass-catching tight ends who often mismatch opposing defenses. It’s rare to find such a ferocious striker and intimidator who has the football intelligence and athletic prowess to go make plays in the passing game, but Hamilton provides it all.”
