Baltimore Ravens sign QB Emory Jones
The Baltimore Ravens have added former Florida Gators quarterback Emory Jones to the roster after a tryout during the team’s rookie minicamp. The NFL Daily Transaction wire shows that Jones signed a contract with the team on Monday along with former Missouri Western defensive end C.J. Ravenell. In response to the two signings, the Ravens waived wide receiver Jelani Baker and defensive tackle Tre’Darious Colbert.
Jones, who is from LaGrange, Georgia, spent four seasons with the Florida Gators before transferring to Arizona State in 2022 and Cincinnati in 2023. He was Florida’s starting QB in 2021 and threw for 2,734 yards and 19 touchdowns to go along with 758 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.
In 2022, Jones threw for 1,533 yards and seven touchdowns in eight games in seven starts with Arizona State. Last year, Jones started 11 of 12 games at Cincinnati and threw for 2,219 yards and 18 touchdowns and rushed for 560 yards and four scores.
Emory Jones had plenty of challenges in college
Last summer, Jones appeared on Sirius XM College to talk about the challenges he dealt with at Florida and Arizona State. “I mean, with the past couple of years, it’s been tough, obviously,” Jones said. “I didn’t really think I played that bad at Florida, but I didn’t really feel comfortable with some of the things that were going on. They kind of wanted to move on, I felt like, and I didn’t want to stick around to see how that ended.

“So I took it upon myself to go to Arizona State, and I got there. And it was kind of… something that I didn’t really expect. Coach Herm got fired after the third game of the season. That was just kind of tough. … Two tough situations for me.”
Jones also talked about getting support from the fans at Cincinnati. “Honestly, coming to Cincinnati, just relying on the people here,” Jones said. “I always hear great things about the people. One thing I know about Cincinnati, they have a really big support system on their players. We’ve got a lot of pro teams around us. I mean, the support system’s crazy. That’s all I’m looking for right now.”
The addition of Jones means the Ravens have five quarterbacks on the roster. Lamar Jackson is coming off a 2023 season that saw him win his second NFL MVP award. The other three quarterbacks are Malik Cunningham, Josh Johnson, and Devin Leary.
