Bears DB Jaquan Brisker says Jordan Love is 'nothing special' after loss to Packers
Many came away impressed with Jordan Love following the Packers’ victory over the Bears on Sunday. Don’t count Chicago defensive back Jaquan Brisker among them.
Since coming into the NFL, Brisker has never beaten the Packers, and that continued with Green Bay’s victory in Week 1. However, the former Penn State star isn’t attributing the win to the play of the Packers’ freshly-minted starting quarterback.
According to Brisker, Love is no Aaron Rodgers. The Bears safety sounded off following the loss, proclaiming Love as “nothing special” to the media.
“He’s just Jordan Love. Number 10. Packers quarterback. He’s nothing special,” Brisker said. “… We’re going to stay the course. We’re going to focus on Tampa. We see them again. They’ll get theirs.”
While Brisker is unconvinced, Love was pretty darn good on Sunday, completing 15-of-27 passes for 245 yards and three touchdowns. While his opposing quarterback for the Bears got a ton of attention all offseason in Justin Fields, it was Love who came out on top.
Chicago will have another shot at beating Love and the Packers, but this time it’ll come at Lambeau Field. The consecutive victories streak is up to nine for Green Bay, and it’s up Jaquan Brisker and the Bears to quiet the noise moving forward.
Jordan Love explains gameplan for beating the Bears for ninth consecutive time
While Brisker was salty with the Bears’ loss, Jordan Love touched on his feelings from the victory, elaborating on how it all came together for Green Bay on Sunday.
“Yesterday was visualizing having a win, coming off the field after a win,” Love said. “… We knew what type of game we were in for. Obviously, my first game in this rivalry, so I mean it felt good. They’re a good team.

“Obviously, first half was close and second half, the way we just bounced back and came out there in the second half and just total domination. It felt good. It just feels good to get a win, never take that for granted.”
Moreover, Packers leader Matt LaFleur couldn’t have been more proud of the quarterback he played a pivotal role in drafting following the afternoon, and relayed the immense belief Green Bay has in Love.
“There’s a big-time belief in that locker room for Jordan Love,” LaFleur said. “I think the guys are going to rally around him. They’re excited for him. They love him, they respect him.”
Moving forward, the Packers are hoping for more performances out of Love like Sunday, but it was all three phases of the game where they dominated. It was simply a fantastic performance.
“Obviously, that was the plan for us, coming in here and starting off the season in the right way,” the Packers quarterback added. “I thought we did that in all phases.”
